Field Day Fun!
Every Kid in a Park
As many of you know, the 4th grade teachers sent students home with a coupon for a free year of visits to United States National Parks! Each 4th grader can pick up their backpack of goodies by visiting the Estes Park Visitor Center (500 Big Thompson Ave, Estes Park) and showing their "Every Kid in a Park" voucher. Backpacks included wildlife books, crayons, stickers, souvenir water bottles, and more! We highly encourage your families take advantage of this great opportunity to experience the great outdoors!
Thanks,

p.s. The Rockies Day field trip is tomorrow. If your student is eligible and planning to attend, permissions slips are needed by tomorrow morning!

Visiting the History Colorado Center!
Our students had such a wonderful time visiting the History Colorado Center this week! Students were able to "visit" the Silverton Mine where they could practice blowing up dynamite to extract gold ore, they traded furs and other materials at Bent's Fort, examined all of the parts of a buffalo and their uses in San Luis, and experienced the dust bowl in an old-fashioned home! Students had a wonderful time. They will each be taking home a bookmark / bracelet tomorrow that allows admission of one student with the purchase of an adult ticket, so you can return with them if you did not have a chance to visit the museum already!
Sharing our Books
Our 4th graders have been working so hard on informational chapter books, and we are proud to have published today! Students either wrote a book All About Explorers or about a specific explorer in more detail. Most fourth grade students were able to go into a first grade classroom today to share their writing, it was a very special experience! Here we are practicing to share our writing:
